What is the EU Settlement Scheme?
The EU Settlement Scheme allows EU citizens to continue to live, work and study in the UK without any immigration time restrictions after the UK leaves the European Union.
On 21st January the Prime Minister announced that there will be no fee when the scheme fully opens on 30th March 2019. Anyone who has applied already, or who applies and pays a fee during the test phases, will have their fee refunded. Details of the refund process will be given shortly.
If you want to apply now the Home Office fee is:
- £65 if you're 16 or over
- £32.50 if you're under 16
This will be refunded later.
Who can apply?
You can apply during the current public test phase. You will need to be either:
- a resident EU citizen (not a British citizen) with a valid EU passport
- the non EU citizen family member of an EU citizen with a biometric residence card
